Speech and Language Disorders

The staff at Accelerate ENT doesn’t only help adults with throat concerns, as children can present with airway problems as well. As kids continue to grow and develop, they are often more susceptible to infection or can even be greatly affected by allergies or teething. One of the more common causes of airway problems in children comes from illness, including:

  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Sinusitis or allergies
  • Pneumonia, bronchitis, or croup
  • Asthma

Children can also be affected by acid reflux that is similar in many ways to GERD but often does not cause heartburn. Called laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), it creates post-nasal drip, coughing, and wheezing.

The process of evaluation and diagnosis for a child with airway issues is quite like that of an adult, in that our otolaryngologists will thoroughly examine the child’s head, neck, nose, and throat. Depending on the specific symptoms, a variety of testing may also be utilized to help determine the cause of their condition.

We’ve been helping both adults and children with throat concerns for 12 years and are committed to providing you with answers and treatment that address your individual symptoms. To address any swallowing or airway problems, schedule an appointment with us today.
